Lahaina

This is the oldest Banyan Tree in the United States. This was taken in Lahaina, on Maui Hawaii. Lahaina was burned by devasting wildfires in Hawaii, this tree was also a victim of the fire. I love this image because it shows the interconnected branches and root system of this insanely huge tree. This tree grows back into the ground from its branches. The only species of tree that can do this. This unique 360 degree growth allows the tree to spread outwards indefinitely. Its also the largest species of tree in the world.
